A Reception with Dalia Ziada, Egyptian Blogger and Human Rights Activist
August 18, 2009

The American Islamic Congress (AIC) has kindly extended an invitation for Boston International members to attend a post-dinner reception honoring Egyptian blogger and human rights activist Dalia Ziada. Ziada, a young activist for civil rights reform and director of AIC's Cairo office, speaks out against discrimination impacting Muslim women. She has been profiled by a number of media outlets, including Time Magazine and the BBC.

In June, Ziada attended President Obama’s speech in Cairo and met privately afterwards with White House Senior Advisor Valeria Jarrett. At the recpetion on Tuesday, Ziada will speak about the path that led her to becoming a women’s rights advocate and about the reaction to Obama’s Cairo address.
